Migration Data, available through a subscription to Resident Insight, provides detailed insight into the dynamics of in-migration and out-migration for the selected market area over the previous year. Migration Data is sourced through Experian and represents a 1-year trailing look into various age and income level migration patterns. This data is available in the Site Detail Report and Explorer.

Within the Site Detail Report, the sliders at the top of the screen allow you to adjust age and income cuts for which you'd like to view migration trends. The in- and out-migration totals for the selected cohort are then displayed on the left side of the screen. Additionally, the top counties for both in-migration and out-migration are listed on the right, with an interactive visual representation below.

The Household Data section at the bottom of the screen provides an overview of income-qualified 80+ seniors living alone, as well as migration dynamics for 80+ seniors at both the selected market area and MSA extents.

Within Explorer, you can access Migration Data by selecting "Patterns & Demographics" on the left sidebar. Once expanded, you view In Migration, Out Migration, and Net Migration for geographies across the country. Areas in dark blue represent fewer households of migration whereas areas in red represent large quantities of migration. Hold down shift and toggle the arrow keys on your keyboard to pan and change the angle of the map.

The "Migration To-From" allows you to visualize net migration from county to county across the country. Clicking into any blue dot, representing a singular county, will populate a connection trail to all of the other counties that households have moved into and out of. The darker the blue, the higher net gain of migration and the brighter the red, the higher net loss of migration. Click into any trail to view the county names and net 1-year household migration quantity.

For all types of migration available to view in Explorer, you can customize the age cohort and income level of the households displayed by clicking the desired check boxes in the left sidebar. The map will automatically refresh with data custom to the options selected.
