VisionLTC's Market Research tools are often used to produce data in the form of metrics. What's a metric?

A metric is an output from an analysis that is based on the output from a mathematical formula.

What formula exactly? Well that depends on the metric in question - email us at support@visionltc.com with the name of your specific metric in mind for more information. Today, we're talking about metrics in general.

There are hundreds, potentially thousands, of metrics on your VisionLTC portal! Each time you process an analysis you are calculating every single metric on your portal - yes, all of them! The system takes all of the data from your selected market areas and processes it through your enabled metrics, which are then cached and stored in our system.

If that's true... then why don't I see all of the metrics in my reports? Probably because the missing metrics haven't been added to your selected report template. In this case, I recommend you read more about Settings - Report Builder and add the missing metrics to your report templates. This is especially true if you have recently had custom metrics created for your portal. You will need to manually add them to your report templates.

Since every metric on your portal is calculated and stored for every analysis on your portal, you'll be able to view any and all metrics for an old analysis with a new report template.

NOTE: This does not mean that if you had custom metrics, or new metrics, added to your portal today that an old analysis from last month, or last year, will have those new metrics handy. Only the metrics that were enabled on your portal at the time the analysis was run will be calculated and cached during the analysis process. Once the analysis has been run, it's frozen in time.
